The view of the mountains you get from these pools is simply mesmerizing. Near the sulfur spring is a temple of Lord Shiva. Keeping in mind the local beliefs and respecting the holiness of this place one should not enter the temple premises with shoes on. Also smoking and drinking inside the pool is strictly prohibited. One must wash himself/herself outside the pool before entering the pool and then after leaving the pool. These rules help maintain the purity of this place for the benefit of everyone having this amazing experience.
Myth and Legend:
The story behind this mystical place is related to Lord Kartikeya, who was the youngest son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. As per the legend, Lord Kartikeya meditated at Kheerganga for a thousand years. Goddess Parvati his mother, created these Hot water springs to cook ”Kheer” for him after his long meditation.
